My Story – Joe D’Angelo – Adelaide Wedding Photographer
I have been around the photography industry my whole life and growing up in a photographic family I have been involved in all facets of photography.
My first memories of photography came from my father Luigi, who is the founder of Bellé Photo and has been a wedding and portrait photographer for over 40 years. Being brought up with my father being such a success at what he did and seeing his passion and dedication made me follow in his footsteps which has now lead me to take over the wedding and portrait studio.
I attended my first wedding at the age of 8 as my father’s assistant! Even though I was a little boy I stayed with him for the entire coverage, I loved it & I was hooked! I continued to assist my father as often as I could growing up, in the studio and on location, learning as much as I could as my dream was to create a father & son team which would inevitably lead to greater things. We have now worked together for almost 20 years and I will endeavour to continue his legacy.
I’ve experienced photography from every aspect of shooting film on both 35mm and medium format camera’s to processing my own film & printing in our own laboratory to the evolution of digital photography.
I educated myself with an Advanced Diploma of Commercial Photography and have now gone on to have over 20 years experience photographing weddings and portraits, locally, interstate and abroad.
I photographed my first wedding at the age of 18 when I first got my ‘P’ plates. Was I nervous? Of course! But I enjoyed it more than anything I had experienced before.
At the age of 19, I was awarded the prestigious honour of South Australian AAPP Wedding Photographer of the Year. More successes quickly followed with other industry awards including Australian AAPP Wedding Album and Open Photographer of the Year.
I have now photographed hundreds of weddings in my career and the excitement, the adrenaline, the anticipation, the importance of the day has never faded. Creative vision, fluid natural style and sensitivity have enabled me to create my signature photographic style. Often using minimal elements and precise composition, I aim to create artworks of beauty that touch the viewer’s heart and imagination. My natural ability to make people feel at ease in front on the lens, dedication, patience and my kind nature helps people relax and bring out their natural charm.
The love of photography, the privilege it brings to capture precious memories of people’s lives is a huge part of who I am. It’s my passion, my career and I love what I do.
My other most precious loves are my very beautiful wife who is my best friend, and my three amazing children who make me see the world in a new way. We love spending time travelling, gardening, cooking and exploring nature. I love great food, sharing a good wine with friends, music, fashion and sports.
I would love to hear about your wedding plans and have the privilege of working with you. You can contact me for wedding photography prices and arrange a time for a coffee and chat at my studio.
I look forward to hearing from you!
My Studio
The studio, located on the very popular bridal precinct of Payneham Road is just East of the CBD of Adelaide. In 2016 I transformed the studio into a new boutique styled space which is something I’m very proud of. My location on Payneham Road has been my second home for many years now, it’s where I grew up, spent my school holidays as a child, began my working life and is now the place where I meet with my clients. I do all my editing, post production and album design in house and I meet clients by appointment. You can contact me and arrange a time for a coffee and chat at my studio located in Payneham, Adelaide.
